Mr. S.D.Rathnayaka

After that Mr.S.D.Rathnayaka assumed his duties at Ambalantota Maha Vidayalaya on 10 th February 1993.With this the door opened to a golden period. By the year 1996 the number of students of the school was 1486 with 51 teachers. From grade 1 to 13 there were four parallel classes. A Commerce section was started for Grade 12 students in addition to Art’s section. In 2000 with the beginning of the millennium parents and well-wishers helped much for the development of the school.

A new temporary building (60x20) the “Parithyaga” hall and a temporary science laboratory (30x20) were erected with the help of parents and wishers due to lack of building facilities. With the increasing of the number of students the School Development Society erected a new hall in 80x20 extent and it was named “Tharaka hall “.A bell with a tower was donated by the Youths of Pubudu Kalyathanaya.For the first time a prize giving was held in a grand scale on 15 th October 1996 in the school history.

Three Savings Banks were opened in the school affiliating with the people’ bank, The National Saving’s Bank and Hatton National Bank. The results of the grade 5 scholarship examination have been rising. Likewise the results of G.C.E.(O/L) and (A/L) were in a higher percentage in Education Zone. In 1998 a group of prefects was selected and it was continued annually. Most of the students of the school were able to achieve the victories at Debate, Oratory, Singing,Arts and Quiz Competition. Educational Tours and Field Trips were arranged continuously.
